This Nickel Quiz highlights contact allergen awareness
The Dermatitis Academy launched a contact dermatitis nickel quiz to test knowledge base of potential sources of the allergen nickel and to increase awareness for avoidance and prevent of contact dermatitis to nickel. It highlights the top tested allergen worldwide and discusses some potential sources for this allergen. This quiz is housed on the Dermatitis Academy page dedicated to nickel awareness.
About nickel
Nickel is the most common allergen in the world, 10-15% of the US population is estimated to have nickel allergy, can get more sensitized over time with exposure, nickel can be mixed (alloyed) with lots of other metals. Nickel is used in the manufacture of studs; zippers on jeans; clasps; teeth fillings (check with dentist);kitchen utensils stainless steel utensils or appliances, cars, heating elements, jewelry, jet engine parts.
