Acidification: Apple Cider Vinegar
Introduction:
A dilute apple cider vinegar (ACV) bath is a skin care technique used in the treatment of atopic dermatitis. Vinegar consists primarily of acetic acid and water. Using vinegar as a treatment will not only ease eczema symptoms, but also help prevent future outbreaks.
There are several ways to use ACV, all which involve acidification of the skin barrier (pH 4.4 – 4.6 range). Adjusting skin pH results in the reduction of bacterial colonization. ACV provides affordable and simple home remedy treatment options that reduces the need for antibiotics and topical creams.
